Montgomery County Yes to Youth
YES to YOUTH – Montgomery County Youth Services (YES to YOUTH – MCYS) is a private nonprofit organization established in 1979. YES to YOUTH – MCYS provides youth, family, and group mental health counseling; is an emergency shelter for homeless, runaway, and abused and neglected youth; and offers a 24‐hour mental health crisis hotline. These services build resiliency in youth and families in crisis by providing them with tools to effectively deal with life’s challenges while preventing conflict, family violence, child abuse and neglect, runaway behavior, and homelessness. These services are provided at all four counseling centers in Montgomery County and at the emergency youth shelter in Conroe. It is our goal to expand and grow these services to meet the increasing needs of the community. All services are provided free of charge to clients through the support of grants, government contracts, and philanthropic donations.
UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation
Children who have medical needs are sometimes not insured comprehensively to provide coverage for all of their medical treatments. There are few places for families who have gaps in their commercial health benefit plan coverage to turn to for funding medically necessary services for their children. Children may go without necessary treatment, or, they receive the care & families assume a large amount of debt. The Foundation understands these needs and is willing to help fill this void. The Foundation embraces and supports the concept of facilitating access to health-related services that have the potential to significantly enhance either the clinical condition or the quality of life of the child and that are not fully covered by the available commercial health benefit plan. The Foundation provides financial assistance toward the family’s share of the cost of medical services. The foundation is funded by contributions from UnitedHealthcare Group, UnitedHeathcare and its employees, as well as the generosity of individuals and corporations.
STPGA Junior Golf Foundation
The Southern Texas PGA Foundation will introduce and provide youth in South Texas broad opportunities to experience the game of golf, develop their talents as players, and themselves as individuals and promote scholarship benefits to as many qualified candidates as possible. The STPGA Foundation will uphold the high degree of professionalism necessary to motivate young men and women for personal integrity, honor and ideals.
Golfers Against Cancer
Golfers Against Cancer was established in Kingwood, Texas by a group of golfers wishing to help friends and family members diagnosed with the disease. Their monies and fundraising effort fuel the work of researchers dedicated to finding a cure. Beneficiaries of the funds are selected on the basis of the most promising cancer research to speed a cure and those who assure that all donated funds go directly to cancer research. Preference is given to research causes that use medical peer review to determine ongoing funding & monitoring progress.
